Brasília – Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport (IATA: BSB, ICAO: SBBR) is an international airport in the administrative region of Lago Sul, in the Federal District. It is the third largest airport in Brazil in number of passengers transported and the first airport in South America to operate with simultaneous runways. Since April 20, 1999, the airport has been named after Juscelino Kubitschek (1902–1976), the 21st President of Brazil. The airport is located in the administrative region of Lago Sul, 5 kilometers from the South Wing of Brasília (Asa Sul). It is operated by Inframerica The airport site covers an area of about 2,900 hectares of airport property Some of its facilities are shared with the Brazilian Air Force's Brasilia Air Base. The Brazilian Integrated Air Traffic Control and Air Defense Center section 1 (Cindacta I) is also located in the vicinity of the airport The airport complex was awarded to the private sector on February 6, 2012 to the Inframérica Consortium for a period of 25 years, for the amount of 4.5 billion reais. In 2019, it was appointed by the international aviation consultancy OAG as the third most punctual in the world
