San Gabriel Valley Airport (ICAO: KEMT) is a public airport in El Monte, in Los Angeles County, California, USA. In November 2014, its name was changed from El Monte Airport to San Gabriel Valley Airport.

The airport was constructed and operated by the U.S. Army in 1942 as Hayward Army Airfield. It was used as a base for fighter aircraft during WWII, including the legendary P-51 Mustang and P-38 Lightning. The California Air National Guard moved onto land adjoining the airport in 1949. Initially it was the home of the 61st Fighter Wing which included the 194th Fighter Squadron on June 25, 1948.

Today, San Gabriel Valley Airport is a thriving general aviation facility, facilitating over 116,000 aircraft takeoffs and landings in 2025. The airport is home to over 300 based aircraft, a popular on-site restaurant, and a variety of aviation businesses and nonprofit organizations. Additionally, the airport serves as an emergency-preparedness center, with aerial firefighting and law-enforcement support, disaster relief, search-and-rescue, and air-ambulance services. With a continuously operating Airport Traffic Control Tower, modern navigational aids, and an Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS), the airport safely and efficiently accommodates helicopters and a wide range of aircraft from small, single-engine trainers to larger turboprop and business jet aircraft.

San Gabriel Airportd enjoys an exclusive location near the Santa Monica beaches. It's the perfect gateway to exploring the Golden State.

Enjoy your flights and fly safe !
