Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport (ICAO: KFHB) is a city-owned public-use airport located on Amelia Island three nautical miles (6 km) south of the central business district of Fernandina Beach, a city in Nassau County, Florida, USA. Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport covers an area of 848 acres (343 ha) and has three paved runways: 4/22 is 5,301 by 100 feet (1,616 x 30 m); 13/31 is 5,152 by 100 feet (1,570 x 30 m); 9/27 is 5,000 by 100 feet (1,524 x 30 m). Aircraft operations is an average of 129 per day: 95% general aviation, 3% air taxi and <1% military.

Bent Wing Flight Services is an independent and locally owned FBO at KFHB. The name Bent Wing Flight Services was chosen in honor of the military history of the airport on Amelia Island. KFHB was built by the U.S. Navy during World War II to train pilots on the F4U Corsair fighter plane. The aircraft’s inverted gull wings were designed to maximize storage on aircraft carriers, and its distinctive look earned it the nickname of the “Bent Wing Bird.”

Hence the main terminal is designed as a representation of the F4U Corsair. From the air, the building’s look is evocative of a giant plane. From the land, the building’s “wings” provide cover for a 100+ person observation deck and shade for a parking area. The building’s “cockpit” is a large skylight, filling the atrium lobby with natural light.

Take off from KFHB and enjoy the pristine coastline and quartz sand beaches. And fly over the Amelia Island Lighthouse : the Florida state's oldest lighthouse !
