Munds Park Airport is a nice small airport located by the small village of Munds Park, Arizona. It is about 20 minutes South of Beautiful Flagstaff Arizona, and located several miles NE of Sedona Arizona. Munds Park is in a Forest region and in a quite remote area, prime for a beautiful airport such as this. This airport, by the way, is fictional, a concept. The valley it is in is quite real though and I believe would make a great airport and make Munds Park a unique place for Aviators to be able to fly into and enjoy the facilities of this beautiful Village. There is a very nice Golf Course, a Theater (real actors, not a screen), and a gas station and hotel. Very small, very beautiful, very quiet. The perfect getaway.

This airfield has two sides, the main airport side (on the East) with asphalt runway, and the West side, the recreational side with glider port featuring a dirt runway for the glider pilots, bush pilots and STOL warriors. There are cabins with home aircraft parking, an area allocated for parking your Glider Storage Trailers at. There is a Glider school there also which is ideal for the outdoor sandwich lunch, taking in the sun, and enjoying watching the planes and gliders land and takeoff.

On the East Side are some nice hangers if needed, great for hiding the plane from snow and rain when storms come through. There is a fuel station and also a neat little outside Museum featuring some vintage and modern aircraft, homebuilts and other fascinating relics of the past. There is also a nice restaurant with an outdoor patio overlooking the South runway area. This airport is located in a valley just Northwest of the village of Munds Park, that is beside and slightly below the I-17 highway.

If you are looking for a quiet weekend away from the city, in a green, beautiful forest area, this might be your dream. Note that this is a high altitude airport, so pack light. Your aircraft will behave much differently up here at 6400 feet. Make sure you adjust your Mixture settings appropriately for the thin air or you might not get off the ground. Here, weight and mixture are 'critical'.
