Chambéry-Savoie Airport (LFLB) is located at the southern end of Bourget lake, near the towns of Chambéry and Aix-les-Bains. The airport has a 2020-meter hard-surface runway and a 700-meter grass runway (approx. 6627 and 2297 feet respectively) both oriented 18/36. Planes land on runway 18 and take off from runway 36, always passing over Bourget lake, except in winter or when southern departures are authorized. Chambéry-Savoie Airport is situated in a mountainous area. Consequently, pilots must be familiar with standard approach, missed approach, and even visual approach procedures as well as standard departure procedures.
