The Microsoft Flight Simulator team is excited to unveil a fantastic new update that offers the highest realism yet of some of the most beautiful metropolitan areas in the world, City Update II: France. The update comprises five cities: Amiens, Angers, Nantes, Nîmes, and Reims. Additionally, in celebration of the Paris Air Show, it offers Paris–Le Bourget Airport (LFPB) in both its standard and festival configurations.

Microsoft commissioned high-resolution aerial photography missions of these cities for the update, then processed the data to recreate each location in exquisite detail. Each facet of these cities comes alive for simmers, from the finest details of buildings, bridges, and parks, to grand vistas of entire urban areas.

Amiens, located in the country’s north, is home to the Amiens Cathedral, the largest gothic cathedral in France. Angers, in the nation’s west, is renowned for the towering Angers Cathedral and its black- and white-walled castle. Nantes, near the Atlantic coast to the west of Angers, invites aerial exploration of its myriad architectural forms along the Loire River and of the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany. Nîmes, of southern France, is renowned for its incredible collection of Roman-era architecture, including the Arena of Nîmes, an amphitheater that continues to host shows and audiences. Reims, located 80 miles northeast of Paris (a focus of World Update IV), claims some of the best examples of French Gothic architecture, notably Reims Cathedral. Both the standard and festival versions of Paris–Le Bourget Airport (LFPB), the landing site of Charles Lindbergh’s historic solo transatlantic crossing in 1927 in the Spirit of St. Louis, will inspire simmers flying all types of aircraft into and out of the facility.
