Port Elizabeth International Airport (FAPE) was established in 1929 by Colonel Allister Mackintosh Miller who needed an airport from which to operate his postal service between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Since then the airport has seen many upgrades. The last upgrade was performed in 2004 when the terminal was upgraded to provide for international travelers.
