Montes Claros – Mário Ribeiro Airport (IATA: MOC, ICAO: SBMK) is the main airport in northern Minas Gerais, Brazil. Opened in 1939, it plays a key role in connecting the region to other parts of the country. Commercial flights began in the 1940s with Panair do Brasil, followed by Nacional and Varig, which introduced Boeing 737 jets in 1974. After the runway was extended to 2,100 meters in 1978, jet operations resumed.

From 1980 to 2022, the airport was managed by Infraero. In 2003, it was officially named Mário Ribeiro in honor of a local politician. In 2022, AENA Brasil took over under a 30-year concession. Recent upgrades expanded its capacity to 1.5 million passengers per year.

Today, the airport is served by Azul (flights to Belo Horizonte), and Gol and LATAM (flights to São Paulo – Guarulhos and Congonhas).
