The Königsdorf gliding center is home to six gliding clubs that form a holding community for the airfield and operate it together. It is located about 40 km south of Munich, in close proximity to the edge of the Alps and Lake Starnberg. Winch starts, aircraft tows and self-starters are permitted at the Königsdorf gliding center. From March to October, at least one winch is regularly in operation on weekends, and two at peak times. Our takeoff and landing directions 10 and 28 can be used for VFR flights from sunrise to sunset. Around 80 gliders, 12 touring motor gliders, 7 tow planes and two take-off winches make Königsdorf one of the largest glider airfields in Bavaria. Königsdorf offers the best conditions for flights to the lowlands and the mountains. Blomberg, ten kilometers south of Königsdorf, is the gateway to the Alps for glider pilots.
