SAWP considered by several pilots as a difficult airport due to the winds and snow that rule the area in winter. This airport was reopened to air traffic thanks to the mining and tourist activity of the area, Perito Moreno is located in the heart of Patagonia Argentina very close to the border with Chile, the airport is very close to Lake Buenos Aires, one of the largest lakes in area. The closest Chilean towns are: Balmaceda, Chile Chico, Puerto Ibañez, On the Argentine side: Los Antiguos, Rio Mayo and Las Heras.
