KGYY-Gary/Chicago Airport is located in Indiana, but has good proximity to downtown Chicago. They bill themselves as "Chicago's third airport", but only if you have your own private aircraft! Passenger airlines flights ceased operating in 2013 when Allegiant Air terminated its services, the terminal is still there, but the Jetways have been removed. Gary airport today has become a corporate aircraft base with two major FBOs. 'Gary Jet Center' and 'B Coleman'(Signature).

KGYY has 2 runways, the main 12-30 and the shorter 2-20. The construction of the northwest extension of runway 12/30 from 7,003 to 8,859 feet was completed in 2015.
The airport is also home UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter operations of the Indiana Army National Guard on the south side. UPS Airlines operate from the old terminal ramp using the Airbus A300 and Boeing 757 aircraft.
