World Update XVII adds unprecedented detail to the United Kingdom and Ireland in the Microsoft Flight Simulator world. It includes 16 TIN cities, 79 points of interest (POIs), and five handcrafted airports.

The United Kingdom and Ireland are famous for intricate history, iconic architecture, and beautiful landscapes. From the northern reaches of Scotland to the southern tip of England, this region offers a fascinating mosaic of the natural and human made.

Microsoft partnered with Bing Maps, Gaya Simulations, and iniBuilds to create this latest spectacular offering for Flight Simulator aviators. World Update XVII merges recent aerial imagery, digital elevation modelling (including LiDAR coverage), TIN (triangulated irregular network) surface modeling, and hand-crafted airports.

World Update XVII includes 16 TIN cities: Bristol, Brighton, Greater London, Heathrow, Leeds-Bradford, Liverpool, Newcastle-Sunderland, Welling, and Wembley in England; Cork, Dublin, and Cliffs of Moher / Liscannor in Ireland; Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland; Cardiff in Wales; and Gibraltar. The update includes 79 points of interest throughout England, Ireland, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Orkney, Scotland, and Wales. Five airports have been handcrafted: Farnborough Airport (EGLF) and London Stansted Airport (EGSS) in England, Cork Airport (EICK) in Ireland, Sunburgh Airport (EGPB) in Scotland, and Cardiff (EGFF) in Wales.

The update also includes eight activities: three discovery flights, two landing challenges, and three bush trips. Soar above Dublin, Ireland; Edinburgh, Scotland; and the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland with the update’s discovery flights. Try your hand landing at London Stansted Airport (EGSS) in an Airbus A320neo and Ireland’s Cork Airport (EICK) in a Daher TBM 930. Take long tours in this region with bush trips in Scotland, southern England, and Wales.
